The mission of Music Ministry at Our Lady of the Brook Parish is to support the gospel message through song and challenge the assembly to live it more fully. The goal of the Director of Music Ministries is to develop a prayerful, singing assembly through preparation, celebration and evaluation, through education and personal ministry. There is an opportunity for every parishioner to participate, whether as a chorister, an instrumentalist, a cantor, a bell ringer, or a participant in congregational song.

Adult Choir - Ages 16+.  No experience or music reading skills necessary.  If you like to sing, join us!  Rehearsals meet weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the John Neumann Room.  Adult Choir sings weekly at the 11:15 a.m.. Sunday Mass, and for special occasions. Rehearsals have begun! Join us at any rehearsal.

Festival Choir – Can’t  make  the  commitment  for  the  whole  season? Join the Adult Choir for special occasions. Easter season rehearsals begin on March 10, 2010, at 7:30 p.m.

Hand Bell Choir- You like music, but singing is not for you? This group will ring bells for All Saints’ Day, Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost celebrations. A “good ear” and sense of rhythm is helpful; training and instruction will be  provided. Seasonal Wednesday evening rehearsals from 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. in the Worship Area. Easter rehearsals begin on March 10, 2010, at 6:30 p.m.

Sunday Instrumentalists - If you play an instrument, share your talent by playing at any of the weekend Masses or just on special occasions!  Play whenever your schedule permits. We could really use a guitar, flute, trumpet, percussion, violin, or cello!

Cantors - If you are an experienced singer, lead our parish family in song at the weekend Masses. Training and coaching will be provided. Sign up to cantor whenever your schedule permits. The next meeting of the Cantors guild is on Tuesday, February 11, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. in the Worship Area.

Resurrection Choir - An impromptu group that sings for funerals.

Summer Choir - Sing at the 9:30 a.m. Mass during the summer months.

Music Notes

The OLB Adult Choir will lead Stations of the Cross with singing on Friday, February 27, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. Join us for homemade vegetarian soups at the Bread and Soup Supper at 6:00 p.m.

The Adult Choir will sing for the concluding night of the Parish Mission, March 7-11.

OLB Welcome the Band and Choir of St. Bernard's School from Saint Paul, MN, who will participate in the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, March 21, 2010.

The choir will sing at a special Mass for the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at the 11:15 a.m. Mass.

The choir will be participating in the return of the Northbrook Interfaith Choir Festival, sponsored by the Northbrook Clergy Association, on Sunday, May 16, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. here at OLB!
